Mudlarks is a tragic, beautifully realised play about three young men trapped at the wrong end of the river. Under the sea wall, in the mud of the River Thames in Essex, they hide from the police after a night of recklessness. As the freezing night draws in and their options diminish two questions remain: do they have the power to determine their own fates, or are they destined to sink into the mud?

Mudlarks will be one of three World Premieres and 18 productions presented at the HighTide Festival in Halesworth, Suffolk in May 2012 and hails the arrival of a vital voice in UK theatre.

IF YOU PLEDGE £50 OR MORE BEFORE 1ST MARCH, WE WILL THANK YOU PERSONALLY IN THE PUBLISHED PLAY, APPEARING SOON AT A BOOKSHOP NEAR YOU!

The show will run for an initial eleven performances, playing to a vibrant mix of Suffolkers, important members of the theatre industry and major national critics. With a South-East tour and eventual transfer into London planned subsequently.

Mudlarks provides the perfect platform for Vickie, three brilliant young actors and an experienced and dynamic creative team to showcase their talents. We are currently £5000 away to completing funding to deliver the production, of which HighTide Festival has contributed half. We now have half left to raise from private giving.

HighTide are supporting the production by providing a fully equipped venue for the production and also marketing support; we are fundraising in order to provide our cast and strong creative team with the wages they deserve.

We’d love you to join us at the HighTide festival, and this is a great way to support us and purchase a ticket at the same time. Other companies and artists presenting work in 2012 include Headlong, Ella Hickson, curious directive, the Public Theater, New York, Mike Daisey and Bad Physics.
